About
Altirhinus
Altirhinus is a typical iguanodontid, in fact, in 1952 it was originally named Iguanodon Orientalis. Scientists believed that it was in fact a a sub-species of Iguanadon. As time went on, it became apperent that this dinosaur was actually a separate species. In 1998 it was renamed Altirhinus.
Altirhinus was a member of the Ornithopoda or bird-foot Group. These dinosaurs had feet similar to those of modern birds. In many ways this dinosaur resembled a camel.
Ornithopodas are among the most successful of all dinosaur groups living for tens of millions of years.
