About
Eryops
This medium size meat-eating amphibian first appeared on the Earth about 350 million years ago.
It probably lived in swamps and along rivers and lake beds, looking for unsuspecting small animals. Eryops probably would have resembled a modern day alligator.
Eryops was named in 1887 by Edward Drinker Cope, an American scientist.
