About
Heterodontosaurus
Around 210 million years ago, Southern Africa was a dry place, much as it is today. Heterodontosaurus, one of the smaller dinosaurs to have roamed the Earth, lived during this time.
Around the size of a modern dog, Heterodontosaurus used its specialized teeth to cut and chew plant material. It is unusual among reptiles to have different shaped teeth. Most reptiles' teeth are the same throughout their mouths.
The front legs of Heterodontosaurus were short, ending in three finger-like digits. These digits were capable of bending, and possibly grasping objects.
Heterodontosaurus was probably a very fast runner, which allowed it to escape from predators.
