About
Nodosaurus
Nodosaurus was one of the earliest armored dinosaurs discovered. This dinosaur was first identified by Othniel Charles Marsh who discovered remnants of it in 1889.
In 1921, another scientist by the name of Richard Swann Lull further studied and described Nodosaurus. To this day, however, scientists have found little more than fragments of Nodosaurus bones. As a result, most of what we know about this animal is simply speculation.
It is believed that Nodosaurus lived around 110 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period. Like other armored dinosaurs, Nodosaurus was covered in lumps, or knobs. However, unlike many other armored dinosaurs, this beast did not have a hammered tail. Many scientists believe that Nodosaurus is actually the ancestor of other armored dinosaurs without hammered tails.
Nodosaurus spent its life moving slowly through the grasslands grazing for food, similar to a modern day rhinoceros.
