About
Probactrosaurus
The name of this dinosaur is somewhat misleading. Probactrosaurus means "before Bactrosaurus." Yet it is unlikely that this dinosaur was actually an ancestor of the later duck-billed Bactrosaurus.
Probactrosaurus was a typical iguanodontid, meaning that it was similiar to the dinosaur Iguanodon.
Probactrosaurus was named by Anatoly Rozhdeestvensky in 1966.
Probactrosaurus' tail was tightly held up by tendons. The effect was that Probactrosaurus' tail stuck straight out.
Probactrosaurus was an Ornithopod, or bird-footed dinosaur. Like other Ornithopods, Probactrosaurus' hind feet each had one digit, or toe, that faced the opposite direction of its other digits, allowing it to grasp objects.
