About
Torosaurus
Torosaurus was discovered in 1891 by John Bell Hatcher and was named by Othniel Charles Marsh. This animal was one of the largest horned dinosaurs to have ever lived, and also had the second largest skull of any land animal to have ever lived. The record for the largest skull belongs to Pentaceratops.
The neck frill of Torosaurus was not made of solid bone, but instead, like many horned dinosaurs, had large holes. These holes were probably filled with muscle. This would have made the massive frill lighter, but also less useful as a protection against enemies.
Torosaurus lived near the sea coast where it foraged for plant life.
